Diagnostics and analysis

Sometimes the job isn't a repair — it's an answer. Is this drone airworthy after the hard landing? Why does it error out once every ten flights? What condition is this used aircraft really in before you buy it, or this fleet bird before the next contract? Diagnostics is that answer, in writing.

Every repair we do starts with a free diagnosis. As a standalone service, we go further: full-system inspection and testing with a written health report you can act on — or hand to a buyer, a client or an insurance adjuster.

When a diagnostic is the right call

The situations that bring drones to our bench for answers rather than repairs:

  • Intermittent faults that never appear when you're looking for them
  • Post-incident airworthiness checks after a crash or rough landing
  • Pre-purchase inspection of a used aircraft
  • Fleet health checks and scheduled condition reports for operators
  • Damage assessment and documentation for insurance claims
  • General 'something feels off' — drift, noise, shortened flight times

What a full diagnostic includes

  1. Physical inspection

Structural check of frame, arms, mounts, props and gimbal under magnification, including crash-history tells the owner may not know about.

  2. Systems testing

Powered testing of motors, ESCs, sensors, GPS, compass, video link and battery behavior under load — on the bench and in a test hover.

  3. Log review

Where the platform allows, we review onboard flight logs for error histories and patterns that point at intermittent faults.

  4. Written health report

A plain-language report: what's healthy, what's failing, what it would take to fix, and our airworthiness assessment. Yours to keep and use.

Turnaround

Standalone diagnostics move quickly — there are no parts to wait on. You get the written report as soon as inspection and testing are complete.

Free diagnosis. Quote before any work.

Diagnosis is free. We inspect and test your drone, then send a detailed written quote — including a realistic timeline. Work starts only after you approve it; if you decline, we return your drone and you owe nothing for the diagnosis.

Diagnostics & Analysis — common questions

Isn't diagnosis free? Why is there a diagnostics service?

Repair diagnosis is free — it tells us what to quote. The standalone diagnostics service is for when the report itself is the product: airworthiness checks, pre-purchase inspections, fleet condition reports and insurance documentation.

Can you find a fault that only happens sometimes?

Intermittent faults are our specialty and our least favorite adversary. Between load testing, thermal behavior and flight-log review, most of them can be cornered. If we can't reproduce it, we'll say exactly that rather than guess.

Will your report work for an insurance claim?

Yes — our reports document damage, probable cause and repair cost in the format adjusters ask us for. See our insurance claims page for how that process works.

Do you inspect drones before I buy them used?

Yes. Have the seller ship it to us, and you'll get an honest condition report before money changes hands.
